FAQ’s

What does my site need before delivery?

Before delivery, your trailer site needs an active water spigot, and an active RV electrical outlet. Please review more parking/utility questions below.

How do I report a problem?

Please use the RVD Rents online Maintenance Request Form. All renters receive a link to this form that you can fill out from your mobile device or computer.

If you feel intimidated by filling out an online form (not “tech savvy”), let us know right away before you receive the RV, and we’ll work out an alternate plan for reporting a problem.

What do I need to power my trailer?

Before we schedule RV delivery, you will need to install and turn on an RV outlet within max 50 feet of the trailer site. Most of our RV’s require a 50 AMP, 120 volt RV outlet. Since the outlet depends on the design of your RV, please choose and reserve your RV first before starting the electricity process. Your contractor is a good resource to learn of the electricians in your local area. Once your outlet is installed, please schedule with your local power company to turn it on.

Electricity access is the renter’s responsibility. Electricity is required to set up the trailer and to test all the RV systems that matter most to you.

What do I do to supply water to my trailer?

Your rental RV receives water from a water hose attached to a water spigot. It’s ideal to have the water turned on before delivery, so that the RV water heater and faucets can be tested at set-up.

Does your region experience freezing winters? In that case, your water spigot must be less than 75 feet from the trailer site, ideally less than 50 ft away; a local plumber can assist you with meeting this requirement if needed.

If you don’t have drinking water hoses, RVD Rents can supply those for you!

Last but not least: does your house in normal circumstances need a water filtration system to protect house plumbing from sediments and minerals? If so, please let us know so that we can bring along options for protecting the RV plumbing, ensuring optimal water quality.

How do I use my trailer septic tanks?

  • Gray water = sinks and shower sewage. Black water = toilet sewage.
  • Your welcome packet will include an exterior septic map and tutorial videos.
  • When it comes to your RV sewage, there is one main rule: ALWAYS KEEP YOUR GRAY AND BLACK TANK VALVES CLOSED except for when you're dumping your tanks.
  • Check your RV sewage gauges regularly! The gauge panels are on the wall, near the sliding glass door/main entryway. At full level, it's time to dump the tanks into your cleanout or into your external tank.
  • DUMPING INSTRUCTIONS: 1) open all black valves first, then 2) close those valves and open all gray valves. Then 3) close all gray valves. Lots of gray water flushes black sewage out of the sewer hoses.

RV toilet operation:

  • Always use RV toilet paper ONLY. Never use regular toilet paper.
  • Each week, use toilet drop-ins. Follow package directions. . Please restock these toilet items after you have used up your free starter pack.
  • Hold the flush pedal down 10-15 seconds for toilet drop-ins to work. There needs to be water added in order for the drop-ins to activate.

How do I learn about an RV?

RVD Rents understands that it can feel a bit intimidating to enter into “RV Life.” If you’ve never camped in an RV or even stepped foot inside an RV, you’re in good company–that’s the case with nearly all of our renters! That’s why we provide a lot of support for you and your family!

At delivery, our friendly technician will give you a tour and demonstrate each RV system. You receive a Welcome Packet containing RV 101 training. RVD Rents also provides links to RV 101 training videos from YouTube. And of course, you are welcome to contact us if you have any additional questions. With us, there’s no such thing as a silly question! We’re here to help!

How long can I stay in the trailer/RV?

Our rentals are a 3-month minimum, and a 2-year maximum.
